Martin & Service Dog Dudley

"Dudley is wonderful, he is so devoted to Martin that he never wants to leave his side.", says Martin's mother, Marianne. Martin is a bright thirteen year old from Hilo, who has Duchenne's Muscular Dystrophy, a progressive disease that impairs muscle strength. Dudley was adopted from the Maui Humane Society and has excelled as a Service Dog. Dudley assists Martin in many ways, such as picking up dropped pencils or paper while Martin does his homework and pulling the covers over Martin when he gets cold at night. "Dudley has brought a lot of laughter into our home", says Marianne. "He is a wonderful addition to our family."
