Hearing Dogs

Hearing Dogs assist people that are deaf or hearing impaired by alerting them to various sounds including telephones, doorbells, baby's crying and smoke alarms. HCI adopts dogs from the Maui Humane Society that pass the screening and testing for Hearing Dog candidates. These are usually small mixed breeds between one and two years old. HCI sends these dogs to Hearing Dog programs on the mainland for specialized training.
