Guide Dogs

Guide Dogs assist blind and visually impaired people by avoiding obstacles, finding various destinations and negotiating traffic. In this team the person provides the directional commands while the dog ensures the team's safety, even if it requires disobeying a command. HCI has bred, raised and provided basic training for several Guide Dogs.

HCI assists visually impaired residents of Hawaii obtain Guide Dogs from specialized Guide Dog programs on the mainland, New Zealand and Australia.
